Changing patterns in terrorism

Control Risks' incident tracking shows the majority of the Islamist attacks still happen in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), with 2,273 incidents between 30 April 2017 and 30 April 2018. but despite being the most affected region, the number of attacks in the MENA region has been declining. In contrast, Asia Pacific and Africa reached record numbers of incidents, while EU has been on a broadly upward trend in recent years.
